Those parties interested in programming languages may wish to consider 4th
Dimension, a very rich RAD and relational database engine.  Applications can
be deployed in single-user or client-server mode without additional code

An add-on called Basic4D is available to interface with VBA compliant
applications.  The learning curve for 4D is much less steep than Visual
Basic, and the development possibilities are virtually limitless.
