Lionel,

When I felt that I needed faster explorations and system tests conducted on many equities that
Metastock couldn't provide, I decided to brush up my old FORTRAN and DOS batch language to do this.
Although DOS is notorious by its lack of string manipulation routines (you need it to handle data),
still there have been quite a few shareware programs that compensate for this shortcoming (now
people use better ways - languages like Perl, for instance). Mine in fact is a very non-interactive
approach, but if an ultimate goal is to automate the process of stock filtering, there are no
reasons to complain. Thus, what is left for me in MS is charting and trying new indicators in purely
eyeballing manner. If they seem good enough for further checking, I would push them through my
FORTRAN/DOS routines. Now you see why Y2K need to upgrade to 6.52 was for me just a nuisance. So,
chances are I'll stick with MS 6.52 through next millennium :-) .
Cheers, Vitaly
