All,
While I was looking for a small cap momentum play, I came across a
large cap momentum play I couldn't resist. It's Park Place Entertainment
(PPE) which is the world's largest casino gaming entity measured both by
revenue and casino square footage. While the market outlook for large caps
is some what clouded right now, the Gaming Group is showing signs of life,
so I'm going to add PPE to the $100k Portfolio Monday. I also found the
small cap I was looking for in Titan Corp TTN). It provides
state-of-the-art information technology and electronic systems and services
to commercial and government customers in the areas of communications
systems, software systems, information technologies, and medical
sterilization and food pasteurization.
PPE at 12 ¾ broke out of a five month long shallow cup formation to set
a new all time high Wednesday and went on to set additional all time highs
Thursday and Friday. It's a pure momentum CANSLIM type breakout play with
the short, intermediate, and long term up trends all in effect. The
fundamentals are good with the price/sales at 1.67, debt/equity at 0.67, and
earning and revenues starting to grow again. I'll open a position Monday.
Since this is a pure momentum play, I won't set a target, but I will set my
stop just under the bottom of the Short Term Up Trend Channel (STUTC) at 10
¾.
TTN at 15.19 broke out of a short cup formation to a new all time high
Friday. It's also a pure momentum play with short, intermediate, and long
term up trends in effect. The long term Tema StochRSI is positive and
rising and the short term Tema StochRSI is negative and rising toward zero.
That's usually indicative of a good time to enter a long position. The
fundamentals are very good with the price/sales at 1.75, debt/equity at
1.66, revenue growth at 54% annually, and EPS growth at 80% annually. I'll
open a position Monday and set my stop just under the STUTC at 12 3/4
