XL 2000

Hi

Thanks for your email. Yes .. I find XL 2000 to be disturbing, etc. I can't
shake the feeling.

First there was the deletion of old Excel programs ... which was okay
because XL told me that it was going to do it and I thought ... why not,
there's Excel 4, 5 and 97 ".dll's" cluttering up the works .

Then the non-Microsoft add-ins got deleted. Luckily I had all of zip
downloads stored separately.

Thirdly, it does an automatic error correction ... twice now.

My apprehension probably centers around ... "when does automatic error
correction tip over into automatic purge of non-Microsoft add-ins and
programs."

I have never been spooked about Microsoft ... and usually thought about the
worriers as being anti-big-business lefties, socialists and druggies. Of
course ... not necessarily in that order.<G>

But this "clutchy, closed in feeling" and "purge" possibility has me a
little worried. Maybe like the Omni Trader 4.x upgrade, the XL 2000 upgrade
is going in a direction that I'm not interested in going in. Oh well ...
there's always XL97 to re-install.

I don't know what they're prescribing for paranoia now ... maybe a little
Thorazine in my coffee would help me get through this temporary bout of
insanity.<G>

Best regards

Walter
