Another great week in the markets, but my portfolio was down a little due to the
bottom dropping out of NEON when they preannounced disappointing earnings.
Then I compounded the problem by watching for another day before getting out
instead of just getting out like my system called for. Looking back to see
if I could learn anything, I found that I shouldn't have been in NEON in the
first place. When I first recommended NEON, I said it was being pressed
into the corner of an ascending triangle and I wanted to open a position when
and if it broke out to the upside. When the market took off, I jumped the
gun and opened a position in NEON after it bounced off the bottom of the
triangle, but before it broke out the top. It never broke out of the top
of the triangle, but broke out of the bottom instead. Maybe, just maybe,
I'll learn my lessons one of these days <G>.<BR>
Almost all of the indices I follow closed Friday at all time highs so everything
is still extremely bullish. I'm also still nervous, but more determined
then ever to follow my system so I'll remain 100% invested in long
positions. I have the cash from closing NEON to invest Monday.
Looking at the industry groups, the semiconductor group is finally showing some
strength and I don't have a position in that group so that's where I
looked. It was a close call between Amkor Technology Inc. (AMKR) and ADE
Corporation (ADEX), but I finally went with AMKR. Amkor Technology is the
world's largest provider of contract semiconductor packaging and test
services. For more information on AMKR click the link to their website at
the bottom of the page.<BR> AMKR at 10.56 has only been
public since 5/1/98 so there isn't a lot of historical data. However, it
has been extremely volatile since going public, setting a high of 13.56 on the
day it opened, then falling to a double bottom of 3 in October 1998. From
there it rose to a high of 12.56 on 02/01/99 then zig zagged down to a low of
7.25 on 06/10/99. From their it rose and broke out of its Short Term Down
Trend Channel last week. The current Short Term Up Trend Channel (STUTC)
was constructed from the 06/10/99 low to Tuesday's high of 11 1/8 and extended
to the right. The top of the STUTC is at 11 3/4 and the bottom is at 8
1/2. I got a Tema StochRSI buy signal on 07/01/99. The fundamentals
are great with the Price/Sales at 0.79, the P/E at 15, Debt/Equity at 0.45, long
term growth at 22%, and next years earnings growth estimated at
44%.</SPAN></FONT></DIV>

I won't be sending email this week since my web site is complete enough for you
to see the chart. When you get to the site, click the weekly pick button
at the bottom of the page and then click the AMKR Chart button at the bottom of
the Weekly Pick page to see a full screen chart. Let me know what you
think of the site so far. I intend to add the rest of the building block
discussions; an explanation of my formulas, explorations, and tests along
with a MS Import file containing them; charts on all the open positions; and
other things as they occur to me. Let me know if you have any suggestions
on what you would like to see. The web site is <A

Jim,
Yes I am, kind of <G>. I still have a lot of work to do on the site,
but wanted to get enough done on it so I wouldn't have to send the email out
this week. I just finished what I think is enough and sent the info to both
the MetaStock list and the email list. I'll continue to post on the
Metastock list, but will no longer send out the weekly email charts. In
case you haven't gotten the email yet, the URL is
http://www.geocities.com/WallStreet/Highrise/1025/ I hope you will find it
worth while.
