There are a lot of other trend indicators, but I do like Chande's one.
For trend, VHF was compared to Chande's ones in his book "The New Tactical
Trader". Part of the Metastock code is available as additional free formulas
at equis site, but I suggest to buy this great book to see how these
indicators work and what is needed and not needed. There a lot of indicators
which gives nearly the same results, so you don't need to select many, but
most accurate ones.
Alexander Elder's bestseller "Trading for a Living" suggest to use an
exponential moving average of 13 days or Wilder ADX or weekly MACD.
Another great book is Martin Pring's " Technical Analysis Explained : The
Successful Investor's Guide to Spotting Investment Trends and Turning
Points", intersting indicator is KST also described in "Pring on Market
Momentum".

Subject: Horizontal/vertical market
Hi,
One of the most important problems in trading is to know if the market
has trend or not. The tools made for horizontal prices are totally
different from the trand-following ones.
I've found several indicators to determinethe "trandiness" of the market
(pe. VHF) but I'm not happy with it.
Maybe some of you has created or has found good "trend"/"no trand"
indicator and could show it to everybody.
Thank you in advance,
Maciej Barszczak
