With respect to Walter's very ambitious 5-part MSPRO-Excel project, it
seems that if we even accomplished
a) [getting the data into Excel, either from Metastock or directly
from the web sites], that would be a tremendous achievement.
I queried Equis on it and here was the reply:
To convert you data you could use The DownLoader asfollows:Start The
DownLoader. Click Tools|Convert.Set the Source File Type column to
MetaStock. Set the Source Directory to the directory where
yourMetaStock files arelocated. Leave the Source File Name column
blank. This will convert all of the MetaStock files in this folder
into the Excel files. If you do not want to convert all of your
MetaStock files into this Excel files simply click the browse button.
Then highlight the specific MetaStock securities you want to convert
and click Open to select them. Set the Destination File Type to Excel
Set the Destination Directory to the folder where you want the Excel
file(s) created.Type a name for the Excel file you want to create or
enter a wildcard name like *.XLS if you are creating multiple Excel
files. Click the Options button.Click the Destination Tab. Select
Append data to end of file and click Replace matching dates. Click
Traverse Destination folders to remove the X from this box. Click
Create New files, to place an X in this box andclick OK. When the
Convert Securities menu appears click OK. This will convert the
MetaStock files and store them in Excel files."
This seems to me a procedure for a onetime copying of files from
MSPRO to Excel, which is not what we are after, namely a permanent
link from MSPRO data files to an Excel workbook. Besides, I don't know
if the Traverse folder option really works in Downloader.
