Many users have old, older, oldest copies of Excel sitting in their
computers. Some as far back as Excel 2.0.
My Excel 5.0 could not read workbooks produced on Excel 97 unless the 97
workbooks were especially adapted for 5.0. Thus any of the 97 workbooks
available on the various sites, including Futures Magazine's download site
were unreadable.
Therefore I had two choices: a) use a viewer or b) upgrade to 97. I chose
the upgrade, other traders may choose to use the free viewer.
The free viewer also allows the none Excel user to see what "all the fuss"
is about.

The bottom line for all of the companies about the major trading programs
including Metastock, is that if you want a special feature, you are going to
have to do it yourself. "Big Daddy" isn't going to come to your rescue.
Right now there are lots of examples and templates available for "doing your
own thing"
The basic system includes:
a) setting up a data transfer from metastock to Excel (see Ton's emails or
read the manual)
b) using one of the direct download programs I've included in recent emails
either as a stand alone or embedded in each workbook/worksheet
c) using
ftp://ftp.monash.edu.au/pub/win95/excel/tanly32.zip
as a purchased addin or using it as a template for developing your own
workbooks. It includes graphs.
etc.
Excel can do an amazing number of tasks, very quickly and efficiently. MS
used with Excel are a potent combination. This is the year I integrate Excel
into my systems.
Best regards
Walter
