Yes we would like more details but we would also like you to try a new
video driver for your video card and also make sure you are using the
correct monitor driver for your specific monitor. In most cases, when
layouts work for a period of time and then a page fault occurs, it is
due to video problems, or video memory. Usually the driver is the
culprit, assuming you have used all the available patches to date. The
first two patches had layout problems but they didn't work at all in
most cases. The patch dated 1/22/99 fixed all those. There is a new
patch as of yesterday that fixes the remaining known issue which
involved compression to weekly from a daily chart.
The 6.52 version is a newly compiled version. The fact it was released
as a patch before the CD-ROMS were available was only to get it to you
sooner. It is a new version. That is why you can't go backwards with
layouts and Smart Charts. It uses a different format because of Y2K
issues. Newly compiled versions almost always have video problems due
to MFC changes (the libraries from Microsoft used to make things
happen).
Please try the video and monitor drivers.

Subject: Still blowing up with patch 6.52
I have installed every recommended patch from Equis to date. Yet when I
use
layouts, eventually the program will generate an unhandled exception and
go
down in flames. The older version on the CDROM (6.5) did not do this.
The OS is NT4 (SP4). Is there some magic that needs to be applied for
this
to be fixed. Does anyone else have the same problem? It seems to me
the
best course forward is to re-install the 6.5 from the CDROM, at least
this
is stable and TESTED. I am aware that layouts in 6.52 trash the format
of
the 6.5 layout, something they don't tell you with the patch, making
going
back and forth time consuming.
If Equis would like any further details on this issue, I would happily
oblige.
My regards
Aongus Flood
