Well Ed, besides that I'm now getting a training in Win-NT4.0 and as such do
not know much about that OS-system behaviour as yet, can tell you however
that on my crummy "old" Win95 it runs like a young gazelle again, or whatever
is the fasted animal around. Have opened 100+ Layouts now without a screech.
Also it operates like "a beast" again. So for that, Thanks To Equis.
Hope you don't mind me also "cc"-ing this to the List as this can be very intresting
and vital information for "other Patchers" too.
To get it to work properly (incl. the congrats message) on your side as well, I'm
sure that you still have one of the 2x older -bugged- versions installed.
After going through the list below, download the latest 4.34 Mb version, and run
it "overwriting" the currently installed patches version(s).
That is the way to go as is mentioned on the Equis' website and has work here
very well, including the congrats message.
Keep in mind though, that after applying the first bugged Patch version, I had to
completely un-install my -at that time- current MS+DL installation, and had to
freshly install MS+DL programs new from the Cd-Rom again, then applied the
first bugged Patch and now received the congratulations message properly, but
running the program afterwards in a proper manner was not possible. Now that
was only some 4 weeks ago.
So here are my details on files' sizes taken from their consequtive right-click-ed
"properties" TAB and also the corresponding file dates taken fom the Equis site:
Details on the first "General"-TAB:
the previous "bugged patch" files' dates and sizes:
12/31/98 - 3.32 MB (3 482 885 bytes)
01/04/99 - 3.61 MB (3 795 585 bytes)
01/26/99 - 4.34 MB (4 561 652 bytes)
with the latter being the current now "un-bugged patch" version date and size.
(Note how the file's size "grew" in time, eg more program codes are code
written to them each time, to have them work for the better ?!?!)
Apart from the files sizes, cannot quickly tell the difference in these files, as
creation dates mentioned in "your attached GIF" are not the Equis' master tape's
creation dates, but are the actual dates of your -at that time of downloading-
saving to disk sessions (and this behavior ofcourse also affected my
downloaded versions, so for the above dates, have used Equis' original website
dates).
Further details on the second "Version"-TAB:
File version : 5.01
Description : .RTPatch Executable
Copyright : (C) Copyright Pocket Soft, Inc., 1998. All Rights Reserved.
Companyname : Pocket Soft, Inc.
Productname : .RTPatch
Productversion : 5.01
Now this is being displayed on all of the Patches versions, good or bad, as
well as on previously downloaded Equis' Downloaders new Full 6.52-version,
as well as on the Equis' new Symbol65.exe for MSWIN652-EOD, and this is
at least to say very odd !!!!).
Best of luck, and let me know how it works out on the NT40.
ALSO DO REMEMBER TO RESTART THE COMPUTER AFTER APPLYING
THE NEW PATCH !!!.
Regards,
Ton Maas
