That is EXACTLY the purpose of a hoax. I've hear many stories, one in
Switzerland circulates every 1-2 years, and is actually reprinted in
local papers by rookie reporters that do not check the source (maybe
CNN was such a victim).

=====
A good friend of mine, a nurse at the local hospital, had a patient
come into the emergency room choking on an object. He had been dining
at a local Chinese restaurant - actual name of restaurant mentioned.

A small bone was found imbedded in the patient's throat. Analysis of
the bone revealed it was a rat's bone.

The police went to the Chinese restaurant, found in the basement
hundreds of cages with rats being used as food for the 'diners'.

NYC variety.

A good friend of mine was driving on the Harlem river drive, and got a
flat tire.

He pulled over, and started to change the tire, when a car pulled in
front, and the other driver walked over and tried to open the engine
compartment.

My friend said, "HEY, what are you doing?"

Reply, "It's OK buddy, you can have the tires, all I want is the
battery."....
=====
Local neighbor variety to be told during desert after a glass of
cognac.

The neighbor's pet rabbit that got chewed up by another neighbor's
dog..... Rabbit owner was away for the week-end....blah blah blah,
dead rabbit shampoo'd placed back in cage.

Neighbor now confused by NEW dead rabbit.....As original rabbit had
died several weeks before.....

Have many more to tell, but this is an investment SIG.

Political parties are notorious for placing such hoaxes and letting
them run rampant.

These feed on "prejudice", fear and the desire to help. They are what
boiler room operators seek.

As an investor, don't be fooled. Know your topic, and only if sure,
post and advise. Validate your data, no matter how plausible someone
else's "word" seem. It only feed off your gullibility and prejudices.
