The Y2K date functions require 1930 to be the first available 1900 year.
Dates before that are considered 2000 dates IF and only IF you use a two
digit date, i.e. 1/1/30. But, if you type in 1/1/1900, you will get
January 1, 1900, not January 1, 2000.
This will also allow you to type 1850 to get data from the 19th century
to load if you have it.
I have so far been unable to duplicate layout problems with composite
securities in them. I will continue in that endeavor.
I also have not been able to duplicate the formulas changing locations.
Some of this may be related to video in your system. Try running in
"Safe Mode" and see if the layouts still have problems.

Subject: 6.52 problem with composite sequrities
Some apparent 6.52 BUGS:
(1) The 6.52 MS patch (dated 12/31/98) has a problem with composite
sequrities. I had no installation errors whatsoever and did get the
"Congratulations" message. This actually only seems to be a problem when
using layouts (mwl). Version 6.52 has BIG problems in opening layouts
referring to composite sequirities. I use a lot of those represented as
ratios, i.e. use the divide operation. I tend to get End of File errors
and
when trying to fix the problem manipulating dates on the X-axis it may
even
show the same date in both instances, i.e. as a start and as an end.
This
error may actually be more general but I have simply had not had the
TIME to
PLAY around.
(2) Also there is a problem with the Prompt for dates option on
File...Open.
Choosing the Load X periods option seems to be a workaround when wanting
to
load a lot of data and choosing X as a BIG number, e.g. 5000.
(3) Many of my custom indicators seem to been re-referenced somehow by
MetaStock after the upgrade. MS seems to be using some references other
than
the indicator names. The indicators do not get lost but an indicator
named
FastCleanOscillator may be replaced on a chart with an indicator named
NoisyZip. For me this is not very serious since I fix this on the fly.
Someone may have pointed these things out but with the current volume on
the
list I have not had the time to go through the whole lot. Has some of
this
been fixed in the patch dated 1/4/99? Can I use this patch to patch my
current patched version 6.52?
Regards
Yngvi

Subject: Old and still not fixed date problem
To all,
I thought the fix with the dates would solve a problem that I have had
with
older data. For those who have a Metastock data disk, there is a Dow
data
file going back to 1900. Try and view all the data. It can all be seen
with the Downloader but not in MS for windows 6.5 or the newly upgraded
6.52. Here is what happens:
I can view the chart and when I try and adjust the x-axis (i.e. the date
loaded ) I get the following message:
"Last loaded date must be later than first loaded date"
My first loaded date is 31/12/29 and my last loaded date is 31/12/98.
If I
change the first loaded date to 01/01/30(i.e. the next day) I can get
all
the data back to then.
Anyone seen this before and got any ideas on how to fix it?
thanks in advance,
Ed Middleton
