If I remove the Reply To inserting the list address,
everyone on the
list will need to remember to do a Reply to All, or messages meant
for the list will only go to the original author.

For those members who enjoy reading all the comments posted to the list
without exception - which is certainly a valid choice and, more importantly,
your right - remember:
even if this change is made, members will still be able to send their posts
to every mailbox with one click! No options will be taken away here.
On the contrary. As I understand it (correct me if I'm wrong, please)
options will be expanded. If someone elects not to post to the entire
list - for example when discussing the Holy Grail :-) - it will be
easier to do so.

I have no problem with multiple messages, and selectively reading or
EVEN choosing the messages I want to D/L from my server (thread
following).
FWIW, we should not sink to a lower lever to satisfy all the newbie,
and those who will not lurk and learn E-Mail etiquette before jumping
in an dictating their "organized" preference. SOOOoooo......
Leave the reply to the list server intact. IF I want to reply
privately, I can select the sender, and paste his/her name in the To:
[box].
