DBS BreakWhere

Hi Ton, Frans, & all

Just received my newstand copy of Futures mag today. So much for Mr.
Stridsman's enlightened attitude toward Meteastock.

When using DBS, remember that it is only a system used to demonstrated
system development, trade analysis and "tweeking" exercises spelled out in
Futures mag over the last 24 issues. It is NOT a trading system. It will
show profitability in some markets but is not tradeable as it stands.

Various changes include: inverting the volatility formula for exits,
changing variables, i.e., # of closes for stdev and lookback period 20-60.
Don't forget that Donchian used 20 day entry and 5 day exits plus a whole
range of rules. See www.turtletrader.com/tool3.html

The formula "DBS-BreakWhere" gives some interesting signals when plotted
over
a stock, I've just tried it over the two main Italians stock indices(Mib30
and Mibtel).
When it cross the value line it seems a good and fast signal of a reverse.
Good trading.

DBS BreakWhere (DBS Where) is from the March 1998 issue, page 46 ... It
"lets you examine the daily price action relative to the breakout levels.
Readings less than zero and more than 100 indicate sell and buy signals,
respectively."

The "+Prev-Prev" comments in the article should be researched when using
"DBS Lookback" in other Metastock indicators.

Here's one writer's experience ... "I tested both versions on several
indices and found them to be different too:
This +PREV-PREV causes a shift to the left of the indicator, a trick to
center an indicator?"

"after some testing, I found that without +PREV-PREV LastValue will deliver
a constant value (the last value for LookBack in Your chart).

So in writing Tema(C,LastValue(Fml("LookBack"))) You get a TEMA with a
constant period, as
required by Metastock.

By using Tema(C,LastValue(Fml("LookBack")+PREV-PREV))
You get what You want, a TEMA with a variable period. Nice trick!"
