It's sort of a Catch-22 situation.  You can't read the README.TXT file until you unzip it and if you unzip it, it erases your directory structure!  I don't blame the zip file itself.  The lack of installation instructions at the Quotemonster page where I got it isn't completely to blame.  Apparently, there's a bug in the Norton Utilities v2.0 unzip feature.  If there's over 512 files in the ZIP file and you don't use the directory switch, which I didn't notice until last night, it just clears everything right out.  LOL Well, I hooked up my old hard drive as slave.  Using PartitionMagic I deleted the empty partition and copied from the old hard drive to the new.  There are other little steps, such as hiding the old HDD partitions which I won't get into.  After rebooting, I downloaded the Quotes-Plus2 data I needed, from 10/07/98 no less, and allowed the database to update.  Total time for downloading and updating:  2 hours 35 minutes!  After this fiasco, I am going to use the empty space on my 6.4 GB HDD as backup space.  Because I use DriveSpace3, it should be easy to create a 2 GB FAT partition and 5 volumes in it. Not to add insult to injury, but in that very archive, in one of the *four* files in the root level, the README states quite clearly: INSTALLATION ------------ To install:    * Extract the archive so that the directory structure of the      files is preserved.
