You must also save as an Excel 4.0 worksheet and the downloader reads it
perfectly. I have had no errors in the 30 industrials I have downloaded.
The basic process summarized:
a. download the data into excel
b. sort the data ascending
c. reformat the date column into downloader format
d. save as excel 4.0 worksheet -- for those using excel 97
d. utilize the convert the command in downloader to convert
