Jim:
Whenever I get a new version, I run the old version until I am confident
that I understand the new version sufficiently, and the new version has at
least a few new desireable features.
There have been a few times, none with Metastock, where a new version messed
up my data, or was too difficult for me, so I tend to be a bit cautious.
