It is true we were Win 98 beta testers. We also reported this problem to
Microsoft many times. We kept looking for the "fix" to be in each
subsequent beta release. Microsoft chose NOT to make the change back to the
code used in Windows 95, even though they had previously stated these types
of things would not be CHANGED. The final release came out with the code
unchanged from the initial beta releases. Many other problems we found and
reported were fixed.
Since we were in the middle of MetaStock Professional, a management decision
was made to create a patch to make this small problem, along with two other
minor problems we found in MetaStock for Windows 95/NT in Windows 98 after
the release of MetaStock Professional and any needed subsequent maintenance
releases to fix items not found during the extensive testing done. There
will be a patch sometime in September or early October to fix these minor
problems with Windows 98 and also to make MetaStock for Windows 95/NT
version 6.5 End-Of-Day year 2000 compliant. It will be FREE to all
MetaStock for Windows 95/NT version 6.5 users.

You are of course correct. Its the difference between being proactive or
reactive. Equis were beta testers for Win98. They were aware of the
problem many months ago and did nothing.
