>May I ask what program are you using or how you accomplish this? I am using
a program purchased from Equis called IRL which you furnish the program with
a list of stocks and select one of their programmed methods of generating
the index and each day you request this program to use your metastock data
files retrieve these files and generate the indices. So far I have only use
up to 30 or 40 stocks for one index. I have found that stock splits and
changes, symbol changes and weighting number changes occur frequently and
make this task a little more difficult than other programs with more
automation.

>However I value the results as helpful to finding new emerging groups for
bullish moves. This helps to focus ones energy on only a portion of the
9000+ stocks which I download daily. Hope to hear from you as this approach
is fascinating. Perhaps we both and others not heard from yet can share and
benefit from group participation.

>For further info on your questions I do not have answers but will share
with you that I use http:\\www.quotes.yahoo.com often to get quotes and via
that source you may also ask for news. After a quote given for example on
ITT click on "News" and frequently it gives the info on the symbol selected.
