The telephone line coming into you building has a LOT more to do with
it than you might possibly imagine.

I also have 2 lines coming in here.
But one was put in in 1950.
The other about 2 or 3 years ago.

The difference in log-on and down load speeds between the 2 lines is
remarkable. Same computer, modem, etc..

I have an old 486 clunker that I run on the network with a Pentium
dual processor whiz bang server.

With the 486 logged-on to the new line it runs circles around the
pentium when it is logged-on to the old line.

I had the phone company install a brand new line coming in from
the pole to the house. (No help).

And my service comes in from the same cable on the telephone pole?

I'd love to know what the story is (who to hollar at)????

It's not the ISP, computer, or list server.

Go figure I guess.
