Mike -
I assume that you are referring to MIRAT, an important tool in my
Technical Analysis toolbox for over seven years.
Between March 22, 1978 and Friday, December 5, 1997, the LEAST profitable
MIRAT configuration, what we now call "Classic MIRAT" (the original; there
are two newer, more profitable MIRAT variations), has been correct in
90.48% of its (Long Only; no Shorts, which did better) Market Direction
calls, generating a Compound Annual Rate of Return of 21.32% (over 222% per
year for a Simple Average; remember that part of that high return is in
Compounding only, never mind what MIRAT did! <g>). Other MIRAT versions
returned more, but not that much more. I though it important to give an
example of the least profitable.
A text and graphic representation of one of the newer configurations, the
two MIRAT NSF reports, MIRAT NSF Long Only and MIRAT NSF Long and Short,
which when interpreted together, produce what we now refer to as MIRAT
(just MIRAT, with no "Classic" or "NSF" attached to it), is in my web site,
at: http://www.usinternet.com/users/fbg/mirat.htm.
MIRAT is available directly from its author, Mike Burk (1-800-325-1344).
Data is available from many sources, including a data service that Mike
maintains. If one gets data from that service, for a fee, they also get
Mike's Daily Commentary, plus other important data, commentary and data,
including Sector data. Mike, himself, gets his data from a dialup data
source in the evening. He then writes his Daily Commentary so users can
get it and data that night. The next morning, Mike checks his data against
the Wall Street Journal. If there are differences, he then changes his
data files accordingly. Since there are so many errors inherent in Market
data, not just from Mike's source, but from ALL data sources, when one
updates from Mike's data service, MIRAT automatically deletes the previous
day's data so that the correct data will replace it. My point is that Mike
recognizes reality and accepts that there are problems with all data
sources and does all he needs to do to maintain the most accurate Market
data possible.
Data necessary for MIRAT is as follows: DJIA, DJU, NYSE, S&P 500, NASDAQ,
AMEX, NYSE Advances and Declines, New Highs and New Lows, Advancing,
Declining and Total Volume; NASDAQ Advances and Declines, New Highs and
New Lows, Advancing, Declining and Total Volume; ASE Advances and Declines,
New Highs and New Lows, Advancing, Declining and Total Volume.
MIRAT data is not exportable, so while I do have it all, it would be a
pretty tall order to manually copy 250 days of it to a file and to send to
you, so I have to decline doing so at this time. Of course, buying MIRAT
will get you all the data back to 1978! <g>
