You best check the law on this but if you are a U.S. citizen you may not be
able to open an account with a Canadian firm. If that is the case, confine
your hunt for a broker to the U.S. and when you find one question him on what
he can and can't do in Canada. The laws used to be fairly tricky in this
area, unless they have been changed recently.
