Several people have kindly replied to my original posting.
All the responders were correct. I had turned on the "snap to.." feature
and forgot about it. When I turned it off, everything worked normally.
When turning off the "snap to..." feature, the trendline moves back to its
original position. I have found that it its easy to move a trendline
around a little to match the points. I think that the "snap to.." feature
should be dropped.
