George -

TechniFilter is a standalone program. Its author, Clay Burch, sold his
first piece of Financial Software in 1979 and has done considerable work
for Dow Jones News Retrieval and others since. I do not know when EQUIS
started selling TechniFilter, but do know that they began to offer it
because it complimented MetaStock. It filtered MetaStock data. After
checking the EQUIS Web Site, I see that they no longer sell TechniFilter.

In my opinion, TechniFilter Plus 7.1, the older DOS version that I use
(RTR Software has come out with a Windows version), is superior to
MetaStock's Explorer. I appreciate the speed with which it does its
calculations, that it can be fully automated to do more filters than I
would ever have the need to do, unattended, plus the Nested Filtering that
I mentioned in my earlier note to you.

I know that MetaStock cannot be all things to all people, but I do hope
that they soon offer the speed, automation and Nested Filtering in Explorer
that TechniFilter now does. In other words, make "seamless," "flexible"
and "powerful" terms I can associate with MetaStock in other than the
graphic context, in what it does with and how it handles data.
