Requesting help from the Excel 7 experts here.
I downloaded some historical data as zip files, which I unzipped and
they're shown as
.dat files ( supposedly ASCII files ). Working with Excel 7, I saved
them as Excel files.
The date format shown on the first column is of this type :
750214
I tried to format the column do the date format : mm/dd/yy
The result is a series of harsh marks ( ############## ).
Since each file has more than 100 records, it would be time-consuming
to retype the
entire date column to the yy/mm/dd format.
So I tried to work around this with the MID and LEFT functions.
With example shown above, now I have in cells A1, B1 and C1 the following
:
A1 B1
C1
D1
02
14 75
?
Now, the big question : HOW DO I GET IN CELL D1 THE DATE IN
mm/dd/yy format ? (which, in this case, should be 2/14/75 ).
I'm good working with Excel 7, just NOT good enough !
:- )
Just to see if was lucky, I tried to convert those files to Metastock
format
with the Downloader, it told me : who are you trying to fool ?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
