Ed,
I think I've solved the problem.
Here are the steps.
Take all your portfolio stocks and place them in a seperate subdirectory.
You must do this. Then open up one of the securities but in the options choose
load 1 day and display 1 day.
Then open up the security.
Next create a custom formula that has the close in it. Drag and drop this
indicator into the window so it creates a new window. There will be a spec on
the screen.
Now go open up excel and save a file for your portfolio.
Now go back to metastock.
Now select the one day of the security and then look at the status bar at the
bottom of MS. Then with the TAB move the selection in the status bar to the
CLOSE-(Custom indicator you created). Now go up to the menu choose edit - then
copy.
Now go to excel and past the link.
You will end up with a 4 by 4 table with date & close label as well as the data
and the close.
You will need to format the date column.
Then save the file. Next close the security in MS and make sure it is saved as
a Smart chart. This is why you need to use another subdirectory.
Do this for all your securities you want in the portfolio.
Then when you update this should work.
Now this may not be the best way but it will solve what you need - I think.
Let me know how it works.
Note you might be able to do someother things like not create a new
subdirectory but keep your smartcharts as above. Then when you go to open a
template go change the days to load and display. The only thing you wouldn't
want todo is to save the template over your smart chart.
I hope you get the idea. You know use your brain -think-, fool the machine into
giving you what you want.
