Hello,

Did you ever read the **READ ME** for BETA ????
http://www.amibroker.com/devlog/2009/12/23/amibroker-5-29-6-beta-released/

You should READ CAREFULLY, VERY CAREFULLY first before starting to use any beta.

What is written in bold text ???
Did your read that text in bold that appears in the very beginning ???????

Since version 5.27 the format of database files (quotation / stock / drawings ) has changed.
So once data are saved with version 5.27 you will NOT be able to read them in pre-5.27 version.
Please make a backup of your pre-5.27 DATA in case you want to revert to previous version at any time in the future.

Best regards,

No, one is 5.29.6 and the other is 5.20.0. Why should that make a difference? There should still be a warning before Ami corrupts an existing database. There was a database format change but I can't remember what release. I would not expect a database change in betas within 5.20...

Same versions of Ami?

I installed Windows 7 on my system along with XP, dual boot. I created a
database on Win 7 and tried to point it to the same database I am using in
XP. When I tried to look at the tickers in the data base nothing was there.
I went back to XP and tried to use the database and nothing was there. I
looked at the database and it had the data in it. So what did Ami do?
It seems Ami is not clever enough to see that a database is in use and
simply allow a separate instance of Ami to share the data base. It should not
erase the data without a warning.

I keep the data on a separate hard drive from my programs. So both
operating systems can access the data files. So what do I have to do now to
1. get the data base into a usable form?
2. Allow Win 7 to share the same database?

I could have backed it up but I did not expect Ami to screw up the
database, and it should not have. Data is the most important part and care should
be taken not to destroy it. If it destroyed the data this is really
annoying since some of the data cannot be replaced.

Thanks,
Barry
