Hi,
I agree with Tomasz that the inbuilt cache memory is faster than a RAM Disk, but there is the size limit problem. 64 bit AB resolves this issue, but unfortunately the IQFeed plugin I use does not work with this setup, so for me a RAM Disk and 32bit AB was the only choice.
I've been using this setup for several months now and I won't go back until IQFeed Plugin will work with 64bit systems.
My settings for "In Memory Cache Size" is 11 and max. Megabytes is 850.
I run a 7GB+ DB on a 16GB RAM machine for which 10GB is a RAM Disk.
When I ran the original tests I had experienced 4-6X speed improvement.
I might have got this improvement because I might have a slow harddisk to start with. Crystalmark shows something like 1900MB/s on the RAM Disk vs 86GB/s sequential read on my HDD.
Regards,
eToke

I get slightly less than a 2X speed up. Was hoping for significantly more. :( I remember reading posts in this forum that others have seen 4X - 6X increase. I tried running with and with out a swap file but that does not seem to make a big difference.
