Thanks for your response. Glad you found something that works for you.
The only thing I've found that satisfies my requirement for
instantaneous automatic backup of files as I modify them is AutoVer. I
am more than willing to try any other software that satisfies that
requirement.
I did take a look at GFI. One capability I find quite appealing is
that it can save backups as .zip files. That means you can recover
backed up files even without GFI. I may take a closer look at GFI for
this reason, but not as a substitute for AutoVer.
I will continue to use Image For Windows for imaging entire partitions.

Thanks Keith, but I
think
I’ll have to let go Aver.
Just tried GFI
Backup-Home edition (free) suggested
by wavemechaninc and I’m very
satisfied. It can do synchronization
/ backup of files and folders , registry, e-mail, user settings
locally, and also
to a remote location using FTP.

I'll try some things -- when I get a chance. It will take a few days.
Unfortunately, it appears that the author of AutoVer has lost interest
in it.
So far I've just been using AutoVer to automatically and
instantaneously backup
every single little change that I make to source code (.afl). Once I
get
something into a somewhat stable state, then I go back and delete all
the
obsolete stuff.

No Keith,
I was not able
to get it to work. I setup a Folder\Subfolder backup test :
Original\db_1
Original\db_2
Original\OK
(backup
only this subfolder)
Watcher Settings:
Watch Folder :
Original
Backup to :
Backup
Exclude Folders:
\db_*\
Result:
Backup\db_1
Backup\db_2
Backup\OK
All the folders
I tried to exclude appeared in Backup. And also Aver would not remember
Watchers after closing the application. Maybe there is something I did
wrong.
Thanks ,
Aron

Your welcome. Were you
able to
get it to work for you? If so, what was the solution?

I use AutoVer for automatically saving all my very, very
frequent
changes to .afl files and the like.
I've been looking for AutoVer's functionality for many years. Just
found
it last week. Love it, and its free.

As for your problem, you might try just a subset to figure out what is
going
on. For example, do the following work in Exclude Folders? (might be
faster to set up, for testing, a small folder\sub-folder\ set than to
watch it
try to backup all of your data sets for each test).
\onefolder\;\onemore
\onefolder\; \onemore
\onefolder\;\onemore\
\onefolder\; \onemore\
\onefolder\;\onemore\;\andanother
\onefolder\; \onemore\; \andanother\
\one*\
\one*\; \andanother
You see where I'm going with this.

Hello Rob,
A quick Autover question:
How to exclude from backing up Amibroker database folders (I have all
named
them with "db_" prefix e.g.: db_Forex, db_eSignal, etc..) and also
Amiquote\Download.
I used in Setting>Advanced>Exclude Folders these parameters:
\db_*\;\Download
with no success.

Specifically I use AutoVer to keep a copy of my 'custom' folder on a
remote
storage location via DropBox (which is awesome in case you haven't tried
it)...
