[amibroker] Formulas are re-executed every 3 seconds on a non-updating historical chart?

Just experimenting with a simple formula that does nothing but prints a string to the TRACE log. I place it on a minutely chart with 5000 minutes in the series. I notice that after the first few printouts which occur all within the same second, it then updates the trace every 3 seconds, even though the chart is not live and I am not scrolling the chart through time.

Is there any reason for this? Seems like a constant use of resources when there is no data update that would cause a change in the output, but I am sure there is some good reason I am not thinking of.

The natural extension of this question, is once the chart returns to picking up live data, I presume it will not only update every 3 seconds intra-bar (presuming intervals greater than 3 seconds, like 1 minute bars), but also execute exactly at the time the new bar "arrives"?
