Here is an example from TraderJ UK that uses Ref() to look back at the Pivots(L/H)..... the idea is adaptable to any Pivot type.
This lookback sytle is suitable for backtesting e.g. enter on or near the close at the end of the daily session
In RT Pivots will always be a backward signal as the current bar has to form to complete the pattern.

Examples at the Zboard are suitable for visual cues when live trading.
