Saw your note - you didn't give much detail of anticipated uses, but
as a SWAG, I'd suggest looking at Google Apps for business + a Google
group

My partner in Dallas runs a dedicated, feature-rich forum package for
sites for us, but I don't think you would want the admin load of such
a solution for a small business group.  But, we have recently used the
Google app's above for some ad-hoc, small-group tasks and they worked
well.
