Why not paying five bucks per month and get all Canadian stocks from
Stockwatch. By "all" I mean CNQ (or whatever it's now called), TSXV, TSX
and even MX options, including all preferds for all stocks (each of the big
banks has gazillion of those), etc. And as a bonus you can also download
"number of trades" data and chart it just like volume. Very few data
providers have this available and it's quite helpful for Canadian stocks,
especially for TSXV.
You have to run the download separately for each day but you really get all
3000+ symbols, with all IPOs automatically entered from day one. You can
probably automate multiple day downloads using QuoteTracker, But I have
never tried that so can't comment.

Personally, I created definition files for ASCii Importer that put all
tickers to the proper "market" (CNQ, TSX, TSXV). You will find all the
