Maybe some of you know the
answer to this and can direct me.
For two monitors off of a
video card with dual ports, a single mouse works on either monitor--this is
basic.
I am preparing to increase
to three and probably four monitors and want to know if there is software that
allows a single mouse to operate across all the monitors.
I believe there are two
approaches to the three or four monitor setup. One, install a second video
card, with standard dual output ports, and voilà,you have a single desktop on
all four monitors. At least I think you do.
Two, use two desktop or
desktop/laptop combination. What happens if you run two desktops
simultaneously? A search I just did revealed "synergy", an open source
solution to one mouse (and keyboard) for multiple monitors and computers.
Are there any other solutions to this problem? What do you use if you have
such a setup? Are there any watchouts? Do the operating systems have
to be the same on each computer? Do the monitors have to be identical or can
they vary in both size and resolution setting?
( I have Windows XP
with 3072Mb RAM and reasonable hard drive size. Processor is older,
specifically a Athlon 64 2.20 Ghz.)
Thanks for any
replies.
