Title: [OT] Common sense in TA
The "Why are there so few" thread prompts me to share some personal observations:
- Selling a system usually means you are trying to sell something that doesn't work anyway
- No one can stop private traders to use copyrighted material in their systems
- You only publish or share a system if you want short-term fame instead of gain
- In practice subscription Signals that work for one trader may not work for another
- Formal publications are mostly for ego, they rarely pay for your time
- A trader may accidentally post a HG or proprietary idea on the list and nobody catches on
- The best trading ideas are the simplest trading ideas.
- The best trading ideas are often obvious but nobody sees them
- Most developers spend their time adding MM, stops, Optimizing, etc., instead of improving the basic trading principle
- If you help others with code, sooner or later, someone will help you just when you need it most
- Systems do not work forever. Most of the time they are about to fail when you (and many others) discover them.
- TA Tools lag on needs: most new features are added to TA products after they have gone obsolete
- Basic research should be the foundation of all good system design
- Most trading principles can be coded on one page, to make them tradable may take a hundred or more
- What is a great trading idea to one may be a joke to another
- The best ideas on this list are found by reading between the lines
...and so on...
Best regards,
herman
