They say that French is a beautiful language but everyone would say
that about their own language.
Unfortunately I only speak English but I do find it a beautiful and
powerful language that allows me to express myself fully, or would if
I had learnt to speak it well.
AFL is my first and only programming language so I don't have
anything to compare it to.
My impression is that it is an incomplete language but then Tomasz
might say I haven't learnt it well enough.
Two comments relating to that:
- I can only have full programming expression if the lexicon is
complete
- I can't learn to speak English just by reading the dictionary ...
something more is required.
Unless something changes it is unlikely that I will have a need to
learn more AFL, but, since I have come this far I am interested in
learning it for its own sake (a student who learns for learnings sake
is a great compliment to the teacher).... it is another thing
altogether to go and learn programming in general.... I travelled to
AmiLand and I only want to learn AFL and I want to learn it here ...
I don't want to go anywhere else ... the programming journey ends
here, for me (I like programming and I think I could be good at it
but I have a book and some music to write and a world to save).

>are given so much that we start to expect too much.
Pursuit of Truth, Goodness and Beauty, for its own sake, is our
birthright ... I will never apologise for wanting to see those three
angels, as often as I can, before I die.
>It is not
>unreasonable that eventually product development slows down and that
>the developer starts to enjoy the fruits of his labors. I would ;-)
We can only hope for the best but never demand it.
The artist sacrifices themselves for their art, on a daily basis....
or they cease to be an artist (nothing wrong with the life of an
artisan) ... no one can interfere in that process, which is a sacred,
and private, contract between the artist and the muses.
After his second book Ralph Vince said he would never write another
one because it took everything out of him .... he completed four.
Sorry to hear about your frustration ... you have my empathy.
You are a long way ahead of the bunch and turning to wait for them is
part of the deal I'm afraid ... that never diminishes.
Travel well brother Herman.
