I am running NVIDIA graphics cards in two computers, one with 5
monitors on the other with 2 monitors. I suggest you try the
following steps:

1. go to Control Panel > "NVIDIA nView Desktop Manager" and disable
it (it will not affect your OS settings - it just eliminates the
settings clutter. You can make any resolution or multiple screen
settings changes in the "Display" panel in Control Panel.
2. Go to Control Panel > "Power Options" and set "your monitor and
hard disk settings. (Make sure you set the montitor setting)
3. Go to Control Panel > "Display" > Screen Saver tab > if you use
screen saver make sure your minute settings do not conflict with the
Power Option settings.

Ultramon is software that I have used to manage multiple monitors for
as long as I can remember - it is simple clean and serves my purpose.

Monitors, Disks and system should always stay on... but they don't.
