I had a similar problem a long time ago, discovered that it was due to using 
many different characters in the param names that are displayed in the 
params dialog. Renamimg all params using just letters and numbers solved the 
problem. If you think this might apply to you, you may want to correct it in 
*all* your codes as it seemed to me at the time that one such occurance was 
enough to corrupt the broker.params file.
