Good examples.
Real choices to make.
For example, an Aussie trader can:
- work through a local broker e.g. Etrade is here (higher
costs/limited access)?
- use a hybrid broker (OptionsXpress/OptionsXpressAustralia)
- use an international broker (IB == higher risks/admin costs)
- trade with locals who specialise in world products (Forex or
futures dealers)
- use a specialist dealer e.g. international CFD's trading
Once again it is all on a case by case basis e.g.
we could trade through IB, restrict ourselves equities (access
foreign markets via ADR's)
Every path has different pros/cons/costs and some of them are very
subtle/hidden in the fine print or often don't surface until after
you establish the account and start to trade e.g is is cheaper/safer
to gain exposure via ADR's or not? - is the answer to that question
the same from broker to broker?
BTW
There are over 2000 ADR's listed at www.adr.com (there is a post on
ADR's at the UKB with a link to the current ADR list).
