[amibroker] Alert Preference Setup for Email Alerts

HI All,
  I have read through the forums (again and again) and I am still
having issues setting up  the Preferences->Alert that is used by
AlertIf() function.

Irrespective of whatever settings I use I still get the "Failed to
Connect to SMTP server" when I click Test.

Can anyone tell if they have successfully set up this feature?
What settings are used ? which server ?
Recommend an e-mail service that works w/o issues? (e.g. Gmail does
not work .. which is REALLLLLY a BIG PAIN :( )

Some points
emailer.exe is not blocked by any firewall
any way to test issues with emailer.exe being blocked ?
