I've only recently started using rt data w AB and have had some
problems with data seeming to fall behind.
Most of the problem is resolved (I was running AA every 150 seconds -
data coming in better when I run it only occassionally) but
during 'busy' mkt times the quotes still fall behind more than I'd
expect/accept. Example, 355 to 4pm quotes started falling behind.
By 4pm quotes were coming in stamped (on T&S) 358'20 or so - while a
second machine showed data on time with just quotes from my broker.
Before 355 they were up to the second. I don't know if this is a
data incoming problem or AB problem.
Using ABpro 5.05 vista32, core2 duo- 4GB , cable internet. DB only
1min,7400 bars, 125 tickers).
My monitor displays 1 ticker in 5 symbol linked charts (1 min, 2 min,
5 min, 15 min and daily). Each chart has 2 tabs but the second tab
for each (which does have studies on it) is never selected. If I
change the ticker, it takes 4-6 seconds for all charts on the screen
to be updated- when the price changes it takex 1 sec to see the
price change in all 5 charts
The exploration I run uses studies very much like the 5 min window
and 1 from the 15 min window. It takes about 3 seconds to explore
100 sym (so something is running in the background all the time to
keep these studies updated on each sym even though most of them are
never displayed as a chart).
Is each sym updated on each tick of data for that sym (I have
preference>chart refresh 3 sec but does this have anything to do with
symbols not displayed) - although I don't reach >75% cpu use and have
600mb free ram I wonder continued updating on all the symbols I'm not
presently watching could be occuring and that is causing the data
delay when mkt activity increases.
Can anyone help with this issue? If this background activity is
occurring, any clue re code that could be used to tell 5 min and 15
min "charts" (meaning for all symbols displayed or not for that time
period) that they can update every 10 sec or every 10 th tick not
every tick while allowing the 1 min visible chart to update more
frequently- does realtime chart refresh interval have any effect on
the tickers not being displayed?
