I recently posted into the Amibroker Library a conversion of Prakash
Shenoi's Ichimoku chart to use the cloud function. "Crash"
subsequently generously posted a version throwing the 'cloud' forwards
of today.
In Crash's version he updated the basic look-back value from the
original Japanese 26 (reflecting the old Japanese 6-day business week)
to 22, reflecting our currnet business week - and altered the other
values accordingly (well,... most of them!).
If one wants to look at an Ichimoku chart on a weekly time frame, if
one just changes the View setting in Amibroker to weekly one is using
a look-back value of 22 - meaning what? 22 weeks is not half a year,
and seems a bit meaningless. If one does a three-month look-back, the
base value could be 14, the short value 5, the doubling 28 and the
offset 14.
If one implemnts these values one gets a more satisfactory hugging of
the cloud than by just changing the View setting.
Has anyone tried varying the Ichimoku settings in this way - and are
you getting satisfactory results?
