Handling RT data is 100* harder than EOD.
Most of us keep them separate (the gain of putting them together is
not worth the pain).
Later, when handling data becomes second nature, you can throw it
around here and there - to start off keep it simple.
Just follow Jim's instructions - it takes a few hours to get 10 years
of back data from Yahoo for all the symbols in his database.
Enjoy it - it is good fun and very useful - very easy to get and use
(as always thanks to Jim and Dick).
You will find every possible trading challenge in EOD data - I learnt
in it for years and then moved straight to RT without a hitch - RT
charts are almost exactly the same until you move into micro
timeframes - the exception is tick trading which is another universe
(like going from classical to quantum mechanics) - down to 5 - 15
mintute bars is exactly the same as EOD bars (mostly) so don't look
at EOD trading as second rate.
Of course, when you are in your RT database (one minute timeframe)
you can change to daily view in a flash - I love it, for EOD trading,
with linked charts in 15 minute and another one below it in EOD - you
can see the relationship between the two beautifully.
(have a look at Tomasz's video on how to view two charts in one
screen).
