For what it’s worth, as an independent data vendor to incorporate our features/watchlists/data systems into AmiBroker has probably taken a 4-5 weeks of programming, debugging and enhancement development effort.   Not to mention the help from dozens of testers in this area.

If you value an average programmer’s time at around $2000/week, then  there’s $8-$10K worth of invested time within AmiBroker.

I’m all for data plugins within AB, but think it should be a) vendor/broker supported/initiated (as it is for us) or b) user supported to reward the AmiBroker team for their efforts/skills.

Our future efforts will be to create a native data plugin for AmiBroker which will provide even more capabilities.  This is a cost which we must bear with the hope that AmiBroker users will decide to user our data platform.

Tomasz and the AB  team – you have our support in your decision to make the IB plugin a paid subscription model.  We don’t compete in that space at all (we are end-of-day data only) so there’s no conflict of interest too.

Best regards,
Richard Dale.

Hello,

You forgot to mention that it was *donation*, not payment for any service
See the original announcement:
"Note that it is considered strictly a donation and you won't receive any extras in return except warm feeling that you helped the
development of the software you are using and guarantee that if ever IBController changes its status (i.e. from free software to
commercial one), you will have license to use it and receive free upgrades."

So, it was clearly stated that it is donation, wasn't it ?

The other thing is that although nearly 1000 people actually USE IB Controller (because they signed agreement for sending orders
automatically)
guess how many decided to donate ? I will tell you: 7. Yes *seven*. It is appreciated, but at the same time it is sad that only 0.7%
of people are keen
to voluntarily donate.

Becasue there was virtually no support from users in the form of actually paying a dime, that actually meant to me that I need to
concentrate on things
that pay any money instead of working for nothing.

BTW: you (and the other 6 people) can get your donated money back for IBc. Just send a request to support.

Best regards,
Tomasz Janeczko
