Plot and title are not normally interchangeable words.  In any case, here is one way of going (all functions are in Users Guide) to display what you asked for - date and day in title of selected bar.  In order to learn this stuff, don't just copy but try to understand what is happening.  Ask yourself "why" a particular function is used in the way that it is.
 
x = selectedvalue(dayofweek());
if(x == 0) x = "sun";
if(x == 1) ...
etc.
title = date() + "  " + x;
