Hi Tim,

I want to be able to add a custom ticker with a name like so:
IBM(01012001-05022001)

I would then use the string manipulation functions you mentioned to
extract the date information from the symbol name.

The problem is that I don't seem to be able to add names like this
because there is no matching data for it.

CategoryAddSymbol only seems to add the symbol if it already exists.

The following works
CategoryAddSymbol("IBM", categoryWatchlist, 74);

but this doesn't
CategoryAddSymbol("test", categoryWatchlist, 74);

even though if I wanted to, I could manually add the symbol "test"
through the Amibroker gui.

The only way I can see to do it is through addToComposite, but this is
much less versatile.
