Hi,
I recall a year or so ago, Tomasz saying that he had set up many partitions,
like one for the OS, one for apps, another for data, etc. He had many with
special purposes. And his point was:
1. With proper setup of partitions, your machine will run much faster than
with all the clutter otherwise.
2. With proper setup of partitions, Backing up is a piece of cake.
I have been working on this for the last several weeks but don't have the
technical knowledge to adequately test it. I have AB prof 5.00 and have had
the prof version since 4.50. Find it very powerful, but have had little
time to devote to it until the last few weeks.
All I want to do is set up: 4 partitions: 1. OS 2. Apps 3.data 4. Fast
data.
OS partition: Ms will come out with SP1 on Vista in a couple of years,
take an image of the oS partition now and 2 years from now
Apps part: Put in the stuff you want now and take an image, if
something changes in a year or so, put it in and take another image.
Data part: Old data doesn't change. Take and image and relax
Fast data part: New data changes daily, but it is a small amount, so image
it daily, or hourly for that matter
Does anyone know how to do this? I am at the point of thinking it may be
fairly easy or even trivial. But haven't enough technical knowledge to
test, because I get involved with the registry, which I know nothing about.
I won't bother to enumerate the problems, one is to get Outlook data in the
data partition. And so on
I am using Acronis for imaging, and it is super good.
If we had such a structure, it should be fairly easy to get back to
explorations, etc. Maybe an image for explorations, and another for
indicators, etc.
If anyone has ideas on how to better organize all this, please post them.

I use this one: http://www.allwaysync.com/
It is fast, easy and free.
