Tomasz,

Does this new policy change the period of free upgrades for those of us who bought the product in the past when 5 upgrades was the rule, or will you honor original commitment?

As you can see just next to EACH AmiBroker version there is the following sentence:

"includes FREE upgrades for 12 months"

So AmiBroker Ultimate Pack Pro, AmiBroker Professional and AmiBroker Standard - ALL include 12 months of free upgrades AND SUPPORT.

We always provided free upgrades and will continue to do so.

4-5 years ago there were more 0.1 releases (5-6) per year so the policy was "FIVE 0.1 upgrades OR 12 months whichever is longer"

The number of upgrades per year is now decreased to 3-4 because the software is WAY more comprehensive that it

was 5 years ago, and people actually tell us that they can not keep up with the rate upgrades are released.

Also now it take much longer to implement changes because the software is many times more complex from programming point of view,

so development and testing is way more time consuming.

Therefore old upgrade policy is not valid any more as we were recently facing the problem that we were giving everything for free for 3+ years !

It is virtually impossible to provide constant development, support and everything for such low initial prices as ours AND without charging for upgrades for 3 years.

We are 3 to 5 times cheaper than ANY competition and competition usually does not give upgrades for free - they charge for each and every upgrade

(see Metastock for example). If they do give some free upgrades - it is at most 12 months.

The first sentence on the new order page says:

Hurry up and order today! If you purchase now you will be able to use current version (5.00) plus FREE upgrades for 12 months since the date of the purchase."

Depending on ones interpretation, this may mean that purchasing Amibroker does not normally include upgrades at all. This interpretation is enforced by AmiBroker Ultimate Pack Pro offer which includes "FREE Upgrades for 12 months since date of purchase ($119 value)", implying that "AmiBroker 5.00 Professional ($229 value)" does not include 12 months of upgrades.

So, does the AmiBroker 5.00 Professional ($229 value) include 12 months of upgrades or not? How about AmiBroker
Standard Edition?
