The ideas was to use binary number to describe a situation. For
example the 1's could be bars that gained and 0's bars that lost. Now
any possible pattern of winners and loosers that preceded a
particular bar can be stored in one binary number. Convert that
number to a decimal and store it in a bar for bar array and now you
can compare patterns using just one number.
This is just one simple example. Does that answer your question?
