Template as name says is a template for NEW charts.
What you are suggesting is export/import of charts between machines and has been suggested
and it is present already in the FEEDBACK CENTER http://www.amibroker.com/feedback/
So please use facility provided (i.e. FC) to make/comment suggestions because the FC is
THE place for this, not this list.
FC allows that you see OTHER people suggestions and you don't submit duplicates
and you also can see what is the status of suggestion, when it is going to be implemented and so on.
This list does NOT provide such facilities.
You guys have no idea how many task I need to take care of and it really disorganizes my work
if you make suggestions on this list. USE FEEDBACK CENTER instead.
Best regards,

hello
previous attempts to give suggestions were stone walled saying "leave the design to me".
even then, one more humble suggestion..
when we do a "template" save as...
If it was possible to actually export " everything" that went into that template... (right from chart color, location and even the afl.)
(The AFL which is creating the chart and indicators.)
If this is possible (in future) then users can "really" share their trading systems with one "save as" and send template files to others.
If there is some alternate way to do this, kindly let know.

Templates (and layouts) are not created, they can be saved with different names. (so save first what you have
before changing!)
Take any window change it to your liking (add/remove indicators and panes etc) then right click on it and select
Template> Save... (give it a name)
this saves all the panes (indicators) in that window with the relative size of each pane (but not symbol or timescale).
(You can have multiple templates where the only difference is the relative size between panes, or having totally different
indicators)
In the latest AB 4.88 you can only create a new (non linked) window using File | New | Default chart. It will use the
default Template as its layout (not the named template you saved unless you used Template | Save as default).
On the other hand, to create a linked window you use Window | New linked (after selecting an existing window).
Somewhat confusing but works.
When you select any other (newly created or existing) window and you right click on it, select
Template> Load... select the named template you just saved, it will apply that "layout" to the selected window
it will not change the symbol in that window or its timescale. it will not modify any other windows unless
you repeat the process for each window.
Linked windows CAN use different templates.
Layouts refers to the combination of ALL the windows in AB's workspace. I do not normally use them to save,
I find templates more convenient for daily use.
Named templates are saved in the database folder, so you can have different templates for different databases
that have identical names. (alternatively if you use multiple databases and want to have same layouts you have to copy
the \Layout subfolder from one database to another)

Subject: [amibroker] New Layouts/Templates
Hi all,
Is there an easy way to create a new layout/template with its own charts? The only way I know to create a new one is to save an existing one under a different name, but then they share the same charts so future changes to the new one affect the old ones also. I have been getting around this by immediately replacing all charts in the new layout with a new "placeholder" price chart on each sheet so that none of the layouts share any common charts, but I have 60 sheets so it is getting to be quite a chore. Anyone have a better way? Thank you!
Steve
